My ‘Why’ In 2023
I have written about the ‘Why’ a number of times over the years. I believe it is super important. It is literally the fuel of your actions. When a ‘why’ is strong enough, the ‘how’ becomes easy.
We are talking exercise, fitness, health, strength, mobility here and what ever the ‘fitness gig’ means to you. I feel that it would be a waste to the very core of existence, to not look after this incredible machine we have in our possession.
My dear old dad got me to read the famous Dale Carnegie book when I was younger entitled, ‘How to stop worrying and start living’. It had a pretty significant impact on me. Dad had the attitude of always having a go and keeping a positive attitude. I guess it rubbed off when it came to physical stuff.
For me the ‘why’ of exercise is really about looking after yourself in such a way that the multitude of fun and rewarding things that we can do in life, are all possible. Most of us have been given an opportunity to have an highly functioning body. Whilst I am not suggesting everyone needs to push the performance thing to the limit, I do believe that consistent action aimed at getting better or simply 'good' things out of our body, is an obligation we all have.
The photo above which I have shown before, is me having a surf with my boy Indi. There can be nothing better than being out in nature with family and being active in the beautiful environment we are so privileged to be in.
What’s your why? Look for it, hone in on it and watch the magic happen.
Anthony Gillespie
Owner, operator and your coach
I have experience in many aspects of life including extensive world travel, running a family business, called Gillespie’s Medical with my brother, started by my dad, which is still going strong after 60 years. I have perhaps more importantly, experienced some serious work and play time on boats. Life is an adventure meant to be lived! I owned an old 1930’s “Gentleman’s Cruiser” for 14 years, which taught me a lot of things including the idea that it is probably smarter to let someone else buy the boat and you just go on it! Best Practice Personal Training however is not about just one person and what I have done. It is about an intention to encourage good quality coaching and good quality living, in both members and team members alike. At Best Practice we have an intense desire to keep learning, deliver results and have fun doing it! Please check out our Purpose and Core Values. These aren’t some trendy baseless words, they actually are the reason for doing what we do, the real driving force. We also want the right people along for the journey. Who are the right people? -those who have got to the point of being REALLY ready to change and be committed to the process. If this is you, we are looking forward to meeting you and let’s get you where you want to be. Life can be short!
